Reviews for The Hangar Bar and Grill
Review highlights
Based on 307 reviewsThe Hangar Bar and Grill is widely recognized for its unique location adjacent to Bessemer Airport, offering patrons a distinctive dining experience with live music and frequent special events in a spacious setting. Customers often highlight the friendly and accommodating staff, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. The outdoor patio, perfect for watching planes, is a notable feature praised by many. While the cheeseburgers and fries receive mixed reviews, with some praising their flavor and others finding the food average or frozen in quality, the overall appeal lies in the combination of setting, service, and entertainment. The drink selection, particularly the lack of extensive craft beers, is a common point of constructive feedback. Overall, it serves well as a casual, community-focused venue.
The Hanger Bar and Grill is a hidden gem tucked away on the Bessemer Airport property. The cheeseburgers are consistently awesome and the onion rings are huge! They have a patio space where you can enjoy your food while watching the planes takeoff and land, and live music in the evenings. We came to lunch a little late in the day and Mr. Moody was incredibly kind and accommodating- we loved chatting with him and getting to know more about the bar and some of their upcoming events!
First time visiting after a coworker bragged about how good the food was. I must say he was right. Food was hot and fresh and GOOD !!! Staff was very nice and friendly. I most definitely will be back.
Wednesday, October 23, 2024 I definitely recommend this place but not for the food. Rating it for a 4 because of location and service. Food was is 2/5 at max. I ordered a burger and fries w/ ranch. The food is not where it’s at. The burger seemed like a frozen patty but we came to give it a chance because it was after 8:30pm. The fries were good and the ranch was good. We went up to the bar and ordered and our food was brought out to us at our table. We had a number they gave us to sit on our table. The person at the bar was friendly, and I liked the atmosphere. You go here strictly for the atmosphere. We were able to see some plane(s)at night which was really cool! There was no live music while we were there.
If you like airplanes, this’s the spot! Could be a “$100 hamburger” place. Surprised how good the frozen, packaged burger tasted. Milo’s for the sweet tea - yum! Good seasoning on crinkle cut fries! Busy day and only 1 guy doing everything (bravo sir!). Need to fly back to try a few different menu items.
A friendly neighborhood dive bar tugged away in the middle of nowhere (next to the Bessemer airport) that offers live music on the weekends (wed-sat), bingo, and sporadic special events (crawfish boil, corn hole tournament, football parties, ..) Check their FB page for events. Spacious outdoor area with stage and a small stage inside. No drought beer and the craft beer selection is very limited but workable.
This is a great spot/watering hole. Had Garth Brooks been here before his Ropin the Wind album, Friends in Low Places would have referenced The Hangar. Absolutely great crowd, great atmosphere and excellent staff! Food and drinks are on point.
